The body’s sweat glands are filled with a watery fluid, which is made up of a mixture of lipids and proteins. Some areas of the body that tend to sweat include the palms of the hands, the head and the armpits. Eccrine glands are the most common type of sweat glands, and they work by keeping the body cool.

Staying Cool When Exercising

Hydration is essential for maintaining a comfortable body temperature, so make sure you drink plenty of fluids before, after and during workouts. Another way to stay cool when exercising is by dressing in layers or wearing a thin, breathable fabric like cotton. Choose to run outdoors in the morning or evening when the sun isn’t as strong, because the outdoor temperature will be lower at this time, allowing you to get more out of your workout.

Hormonal changes can also have an effect on sweating. There are many ways to control perspiration if it is a problem for you, such as by using a 24-hour deodorant or by wearing quality gym garments.
