If you suffer from gastric reflux prevention, your first thought may be to turn toward prescribed or over-the-counter medications. Besides one of those known over-the-counter medications recently being linked to cancer, regular use of such medications can also cause such unpleasant side effects such as headaches, stomachaches, nausea, lightheadedness, rashes, constipation, and diarrhea.

Fortunately, the natural remedies listed below do not cause those side effects, nor are connected to cancer. Thus, I would HIGHLY recommend trying these first before turning toward other medications.

Avoiding Trigger Foods. By avoiding the foods that cause your gastric reflux, you will prevent if from occurring in the first place.
Quitting Smoking. If you smoke, you are just exacerbating your gastric reflux. If you truly want to end your gastric reflux, you must resolve to quit your smoking.
Eating Smaller Meals More Often. Eating smaller meals puts less pressure on your stomach, thereby lessening gastric reflux symptoms.
Eating Larger Meals Earlier. When you eat larger meals, be sure there is significant time between that meal and sleeping – I would recommend at least three to four hours in between the large meal and sleep.
Eating in a Comfortable Environment. Be sure you eat in a comfortable environment and not one full of commotion and distraction. Tensing up while eating can lead to gastric reflux symptoms.
Elevating Your Head While Sleeping. It make take a little while to get used to, but if you place a wedge under the head of your bed, your esophagus will be higher than your stomach, helping to ensure stomach acid will not cause gastric reflux.
Practice “Belly Breathing.” “Belly breathing” is breathing deeply through your nose to raise your belly, then breathing out slowly to lower your belly. Such breathing can help to reduce gastric reflux symptoms.

By following the aforementioned natural remedies, you can reduce and even eliminate your gastric reflux symptoms without having to rely on medications that can lead to headaches, stomachaches, nausea, lightheadedness, and more.

I always suggest trying natural remedies to relieve ailments and conditions whenever possible so as to avoid upsetting the delicate balance of your body, and gastric reflux is no exception to this general rule.
