Massey Ferguson, founded in 1952 with the merger of Massey-Harris and the Ferguson companies, the new company produced several memorable tractors during its relationship. One of its early popular tractors was the best Massey Ferguson 135. Parts remain available today.
The Massey Ferguson 135
Parts were never a problem with this tractor. Its initial production in 1964 ensured components were not difficult to locate. This was and is important because the MF 135 was classified as a utility tractor as were the 135 Deluxe and the 135 Special. This meant they were expected to and did perform a variety of agricultural tasks.
What was more important for farmers was the qualities of the MF 135. It had a reputation for being both reliable and maneuverable. This made it easier for farmers to address the requirements of various chores required from a utility tractor. The MF 135 also possessed sufficient power for the job. Farmers could choose a diesel 45.5 hp Perkins AD3-152 engine, the gas-powered Continental 2.4L 4-cyl gasoline or the Perkins 2.5L 3-cyl gasoline.
The design was nothing complex. The MF135 had power take-off (PTO) and a 3-point hitch. To amplify its capabilities and take on more tasks, Massey-Fergusson offered many other options.
